Surfrider's Ocean Friendly Restaurants Program helps restaurants transition to more sustainable practices such as reducing the use of single-use plastic packaging and a host of other sustainability measures. One of the optional criteria for Ocean Friendly Restaurants is that "all seafood must be a ‘Best Choice’ or ‘Good Alternative’ as defined by Seafood Watch or certified as sustainable." Working with FishChoice, businesses in the Ocean Friendly Restaurants program can use the sustainability assessment application in order to ensure that they are keeping up to date with the latest changes in seafood sustainability and finding the best suppliers for their seafood.
