Jones Family Farms
✕Jones Family Farms (JFF) is a diversified family-owned and operated business producing grass-fed meats and shellfish on Lopez Island, WA.
Founded in 2001 by Nick Jones and his wife, Sarah, JFF is dedicated to the highest quality artisanal food production and distribution as well as land stewardship. JFF purchased their 5.5-acre shellfish farm in 2005 to diversify their local food offerings. Located on the north end of Lopez Island, the farm features a three-acre tidal lagoon with a freshwater spring and three acres of tidelands on Shoal Bay. The shellfish are raised in a warm, protected bay that has daily influxes of cold water that flush nutrients into the farm. The location has proven ideal for growing fat, sweet, clean-flavored Pacific oysters or Manila clams.
All of JFF’s oysters begin their lives in the lagoon. For the last six months of their production, Pacific oysters are transferred to the beach to grow thicker shells before their out of the water harvest. Clams are grown in both the lagoon and on the beach.
JFF’s shellfish are currently sold at local farmers markets, grocery stores, and restaurants throughout the county and in Seattle. Elliot’s Oyster House, located right on the Seattle waterfront, is currently featuring their Pacific oysters.
