Seaquoia Wild Seaweeds
Fisher

Seaquoia Wild Seaweeds was started by Ian O’Hollaren in Santa Cruz, California. Born from a love of the ocean, Seaquoia Wild Seaweeds forages from California’s unique coastal ecosystems which provide a year-round bounty of wild kelp and seaweed for human consumption, agricultural purposes, and even cosmetic application. Seaquoia offers its customers an array of products ranging from dried seaweed to seaweed salads, soup stocks, and dried seaweed snacks.

The seaweed and kelp Seaquoia offers is sustainably harvested using hand-gathering methods and is consciously selected from the coastlines of Central and Northern California. Offering eight to 15 species throughout the year, the seaweed is always harvested fresh. The species harvested include giant kelp and bull kelp which can be harvested in large quantities, and intertidal seaweed species such as dwarf rockweed and bladderwrack, which are harvested in smaller quantities. The kelp and seaweed are harvested according to the seasons, plant life cycle, and availability.

Seaquoia Wild Seaweeds believes that harvesting wild food reconnects people to their natural environment and the issues that face the natural world. Seaquoia partners with environmental agencies, non-profits, and adopt-a-beach programs to give back to the environment and educate on the importance of protecting the ocean and coastlines. With kelp and seaweed becoming more mainstream, Seaquoia encourages everyone to become more familiar with this superfood from the sea.
