Seafood for the Future (SFF) is a non-profit seafood advisory and promotion program of the Aquarium of the Pacific. SFF’s mission is to promote healthy and responsible seafood choices. SFF is building a network of businesses – restaurants, distributors, and producers – that are committed to providing better seafood choices from well-managed fisheries or farms. At the heart of the program are the marketing resources of the Aquarium of the Pacific. SFF recognizes that the supply and demand for seafood can be influenced through incentives, marketing, and providing rewards for adopting better practices. Partners at every step of the supply chain ultimately benefit as more consumers look for great food from environmentally conscious businesses.
The Aquarium of the Pacific, founded in 1998 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, is the fourth largest aquarium in the nation. It displays over 11,000 animals in more than 50 exhibits that represent the diversity of the Pacific Ocean. Beyond its world-class animal exhibits, the Aquarium offers educational programs for people of all ages from hands-on activities to lectures by leading scientists. Through these programs and a variety of multimedia experiences, the Aquarium provides opportunities to delve deeper into the ocean and learn more about our planet.
