As a founding member of the San Francisco Seafood Watch® Alliance, Aquarium of the Bay is committed to educating our guests about sustainable seafood and the impact of personal choice. In mid-2009, Aquarium of the Bay, the California Academy of Sciences and San Francisco Zoo formed the Alliance aimed at raising local consumer, restaurateur and seafood industry awareness of the importance of acquiring seafood from sustainable sources. Working together, the organizations will provide regional support for the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program.
Aquarium of the Bay is a nonprofit marine nature center that creates experiences that inspire conservation of the San Francisco Bay and its watershed. Strongly emphasizing conservation, research and education as its key priorities, the Aquarium's exhibits focus on the Bay's diverse aquatic animals and distinctive ecosystems. The Aquarium hosts nearly 600,000 visitors each year, and provides free classes and tours to more than 15,000 Bay Area school children annually.
