FishWise is designed to bring sustainability rankings directly to the point of sale. By providing consumers with this credible, science-based information, FishWise member retailers and distributors increase customer confidence, resulting in seafood sales growth.

FishWise uses the rankings of the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program.  Also, FishWise science staff develops reports using Seafood Watch methodologies for fisheries relevant to our partners that are unranked or have outdated rankings.  These reports are reviewed by Seafood Watch and result in a new ranking. All reports are made public by Seafood Watch and/or FishWise.

Products in the FishWise ranking system may be ranked in two ways:

GREEN		Best Choices: Theses species are abundant, well managed, and caught or farmed in environmentally friendly ways.
YELLOW		Good Alternatives: These species come from fisheries or farms with good qualities but they may still have some environmental concerns.
